Congratulations Joshua Humphreys and thank you for your service to the children of our district!

The Guardian ad Litem Program for District 3B wants to congratulate our own JOSHUA HUMPHREYS on being awarded the Governor's Volunteer Award for 2022! The Governor's Volunteer Service Award honors the true spirit of volunteerism by recognizing individuals, groups and businesses that make a significant contribution to their community through volunteer service.. Josh has been a Guardian ad Litem Child Advocate for several years and because of his advocacy, numerous children have found safety and permanence. He has truly shown himself to be THE VOICE OF THE CHILD. Josh received his award in Carteret County District Court from District Administrator Tracey Brenneman and GAL Supervisor Andrea Gillikin while his lovely wife Margaret looked on.

"I wanted to be a GAL because of a strong duty to volunteerism and children’s advocacy. I was searching for a meaningful volunteer situation where I would truly be a helper without the focus on me. Having known a few foster parents, I learned of this program and their need for volunteers, and I realized I have the skill set, temperament, and strong desire to advocate for the best interests of children who are displaced for no fault of their own.
