New Berlin YMCA Wellness Center Together, we can create a better us. Build a healthy spirit, mind, and body with the YMCA of Greater

The Y is the nation's leading non-profit committed to strengthening communities through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. At the YMCA of Greater Waukesha County, we believe that lasting personal and social change can only come about when we all work together to invest in our kids, our health, and our neighbors.

Learning to swim is about more than getting comfortable in the water. It’s about building confidence, developing essential water safety skills, and gaining abilities that can last a lifetime. Through YMCA swim lessons, participants of different ages and skill levels have the opportunity to learn at their own pace, grow more confident in the water, and develop skills that help them stay safer around it.

From helping beginners take their first strokes to strengthening skills for more experienced swimmers, our swim lessons support individuals as they learn and grow. It’s one of the many ways the Y makes a meaningful difference beyond the gym. This Year-End Giving season, we’re celebrating how community support helps the Y continue providing programs that build confidence, promote safety, and create opportunities for individuals and families to thrive.

Strong communities are built when we show up for one another. Through our Before and After School Care programs, the YMCA of Greater Waukesha County provides children with a safe, supportive space to learn, grow, and build meaningful connections. By partnering with the Waterford School District, we help working families access enriching care where children can continue learning, exploring, and thriving beyond the classroom.

The Y continues to expand its impact by meeting our community’s evolving needs, from helping children learn and thrive to supporting the health and well-being of individuals and families. This Year-End Giving season, we’re celebrating the many ways the Y strengthens our community and the difference we can make when we come together to help more people thrive.

Every second matters when it comes to water safety. When a young girl experienced a life-threatening incident in one of our pools, a trained and attentive lifeguard was ready to act. Her story is a powerful reminder of the importance of lifeguard training, water safety education, and creating a safe environment for everyone in our community.

At the Y, water safety goes beyond learning to swim. Through swim lessons, safety education, and dedicated aquatics staff, we help people of all ages build confidence, develop lifesaving skills, and feel safer in and around the water. This year-end giving season, we’re highlighting the many ways the Y supports our community beyond the gym. With community support, we can continue providing opportunities for individuals and families to learn, grow, and stay safe. Because water safety is a life skill, and every second matters.

Some of the most meaningful summer memories happen when kids have the chance to explore, try something new, and discover what they’re capable of. Through YMCA Summer Day Camp, children enjoy outdoor adventures, creative activities, swimming, team-building games, and opportunities to build lasting friendships. Along the way, they develop confidence, learn new skills, and create memories that last long after summer ends.

For families, Summer Day Camp provides a safe, supportive place where kids can learn, play, and feel a sense of belonging. It’s one of the many ways the Y strengthens our community beyond the gym. Through the generosity of our community, we can continue creating opportunities for children to grow, connect, and thrive.

Healthy living is about more than physical activity. It’s about having the knowledge, support, and resources to take steps toward a healthier life. Through our Healthy Living programs, the YMCA helps individuals build healthy habits, manage their health, and feel supported along the way.

Our Cardiac Rehab Maintenance Program helps participants stay active after completing cardiac rehabilitation, with exercise, heart health education, and nutrition coaching. Our Diabetes Prevention Program supports adults at high risk of developing type 2 diabetes as they work toward healthier habits through physical activity, nutrition, and guidance from trained Lifestyle Coaches. This year-end giving season, learn more about how the Y is strengthening our community through programs that support health and well-being at every stage of life.

Active Aging Week is about more than just staying active. It's about aging independently and nurturing the seven dimensions of wellness that impact our overall health: intellectual, physical, emotional, social, environmental, spiritual, and occupational.

This week, we explored each of these important areas by challenging our minds with Ticket to Ride, learning about hydroponic gardening, creating birdseed ornaments, assessing our muscle mass, discovering ways to give back to our community, and painting a fun fall scene. Here's a look at everything we've been up to so far this week!

We invite you to join us for our next social event , Brunch, on Tuesday, October 13, from 9:30 AM to 11 AM. You can register online, in person, or call us at (262) 330-5190.
