There are moments in history that deserve more than a passing glance.
D-Day is one of them.
Imagine being 18, 19, or 20 years old. Imagine stepping off a landing craft into cold water, under enemy fire, carrying everything you own on your back. Imagine knowing the odds and moving forward anyway.
Not because you were fearless.
Because someone had to.
The men who landed in Normandy on June 6, 1944, were asked to do something extraordinary. Many paid the ultimate price. Many more carried the scars of that day for the rest of their lives.
When I think about D-Day, I don't just think about military history. I think about courage. I think about duty. I think about the willingness to put something greater than yourself ahead of your own comfort, safety, or future.
Those values seem rare these days, but they are worth remembering.
So today, take a moment. Read a story. Look at a photograph. Learn a name. Remember that the freedoms we enjoy were secured by people who never had the chance to enjoy them themselves.
History isn't just about what happened.
It's about what we're willing to carry forward.
πΊπΈ June 6, 1944. We remember.
