We have had one busy week preparing for our Fourth Annual Friendsgiving here at the reMIND Clubhouse. Photos and recipes to follow.

In the meantime, here is last week's meal of the week: homemade mashed potatoes, steamed and sautéed broccoli with baked spicy chicken. (not pictured: fruit cup with pineapple and salad)

Last week was incredibly busy for us, and in the midst of it all, we missed posting about our favorite meal! This delightful vegetable lasagna is a special recipe from one of our Members; he used to make it with his Mother, and he was excited to share this warm memory with all of us at the Clubhouse.

Veggie Lasagna:
Eggplant
Zucchini
Ricotta
Tomato Sauce (we used Rao's Marinara)
Fresh shredded Mozzarella

It's easy! Cut all veggies to resemble 'noodles,' then layer the baking pan with sauce. Begin to build the lasagna using the veggies. After every lawyer, add ricotta and tomato sauce. Continue until all veggie noodles have been used. Top with one last layer of tomato sauce. Cover with shredded Mozzarella and bake at 400 degrees for about 45 minutes. Yum!

This week's favorite meal was a special first at the Clubhouse. Every day, Members and Staff who choose to enjoy a meal pay a small fee. While this doesn't cover the grocery costs, it offers Members a chance to work, learn new skills, and boost their confidence. Plus, the money collected can be saved up for fun outings or special celebrations.

Today, we held our annual Halloween party and had a great time. Due to the funds we collected over the summer, we were also able to celebrate 'The Day of the Dead' with a Mexican feast!

Happy Halloween to all who celebrate. Stay safe out there!

One of the key pillars of a Clubhouse is giving back to the local community. This builds crucial connections for Members and can lead to new opportunities.

Here at reMIND, you can find two Little Libraries on our property. Members built and painted the boxes and stock them with books as needed. You can find one on Rivet Street and the other on South 2nd Street.

Do you have piles of books lying around or taking over a basement? We love donations!

🚨 1 Million Massachusetts Residents Could Lose Food Benefits Next Week 🚨

Governor Maura Healey warns that the ongoing government shutdown could cut SNAP benefits for 1 million people in Massachusetts starting next week. SNAP provides essential food support—about $240 million a month in Massachusetts—and about one-third of recipients are children and 31% have disabilities.

“President Trump has chosen to take away food from people all around this country,” Healey said, emphasizing the urgent impact on families.

Without action on the federal shutdown, these critical benefits could vanish on Nov. 1, affecting millions of Americans nationwide.

The United Way is launching a United Response Fund, Healey announced, that people can contribute to in an effort to “help feed our families, our seniors, our kids, our neighbors with disabilities.” https://unitedwaymassbay.org/united-response
