This is huge! Amazing work by South Coast Bikeway advocating constantly for increased accessibility for pedestrians and bikers alike!
Let's make Pope's Island accessible and safe ☺️🤩
We are excited to see this project moving forward. This staircase will be replaced with a ramp which will provide safe pedestrian and bicycle accommodations where none exist. Future connection to the Blue Lane Working Waterfront Connector will help fill a critical gap in the South Coast Bikeway. The lack of a ramp on the north side of route 6 is the only impediment to cyclists accessing the train station from Fairhaven and points east. Without the ramp, long detours to the South will discourage walking and biking to and from the Rail Station.
