The New Bedford Lions Club is taking applications through June 30 for its annual $500 scholarship.
Wilmington Area High School and Lawrence County Career and Technical Center 2026 graduates who live Pulaski Township and plan to attend college or a trade school are eligible. College-bound cyber school, home-schooled and private school 2026 graduates are also eligible.
Applicants must write a 100-word essay detailing their future studies and community service.

If you can climb a ladder and know how to use a screwdriver, the New Bedford Lions could use your help hanging additional Hometown Hero military banners in New Bedford and Pulaski. Please meet at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 18, at the Pulaski VFD fire station on Evergreen Road in New Bedford. If you have a 20-foot extension ladder, please bring it with you. Thank you for your help.

Congratulations to Linda Nolan of Mercer for winning $100 on Nov. 1 with a calendar raffle ticket from the New Bedford Lions. Tickets remain on sale for $10. Each tickets gives you two chances to win $50 or $100 every day in November. Winning numbers will be determined by the 7 p.m. Pennsylvania Lottery. The New Bedford Lions treated 104 kids, parents and a chicken to a Friday evening Halloween party at Pulaski VFD. Trick-or-treater Thomas Gargas won the candy-jar guessing game. He guessed 126 pieces. The jar had 127.
