Join us for dinner and drinks at SEEAL's Annual Meeting, next Tuesday, 11/19, at Cape Verdean Veterans Hall (651 Purchase St, New Bedford, MA), from 6-8:30? We are focusing on a discussion about diversity, access, and inclusivity. Erik Andrade (YouthBuild) will moderate the panel discussion, which will include Julian Rodriquez-Drix (Environmental Justice League of Rhode Island), Ernesto "Eroc" Arroyo (Boston based Foundation Movement), and Colleen Avedikian (PHENOM). Working on final details for what will be a riveting keynote presentation, too. Current and potential SEEAL funders will be present, as well as maybe NPS's 'Living on Earth,' who might cover SEEAL, and this event. We would LOVE to have a big turnout, to celebrate our partners' hard work, and to be part of this important discussion. Please let us know if you can attend, and/or have a table display. FREE and open to the public. WE NEED YOUR HELP!!! The University has decided to dissolve their Office of Sustainability!

There is a very small window of time to lobby the Chancellor to reverse this decision. Please take a few minutes to share this far and wide, and add your voice to this discussion. Please send an email to: Dr. Divina Grossman, at [email protected]

There is a meeting tonight, with the Chancellor, at 6 p.m., in the Auditorium. Please attend to show your support.

The Office of Campus and Community Sustainability at UMass... was created in 2007, and funded at a level of $100,000 for programming, projects, and employees. That level of support dropped in FY'13, to $25,000, when our supervision moved to a different college in the University, and this year was cut to zero. The University has said, as recently as Friday, that Sustainability is a priority to the institution. A Green Fee was just instated--estimated to be about $100,000 annually--who will shepherd those projects and ensure that the money is spent properly?

Any note that you could send [quickly] might help make a difference. Thank you for your support and please share this with other partners and allies.

Other SEEAL - Southeastern Environmental Education Alliance Partners and allies: Marion Institute, The Trustees Youth Conservation Corps, The Trustees of Reservations, Mass Audubon Allens Pond, Lloyd Center for the Environment, YouthBuild New Bedford, Ocean Explorium, Brix Bounty Farm, please help!
