Southcoast Fair Housing is a proud member of the National Fair Housing Alliance. Thank you for bringing fair housing non-profits together and supporting the work we do in our local communities!

Fair housing has long been a bipartisan commitment.

For decades, Congress has recognized the importance of investing in local fair housing organizations that help people understand their rights, investigate housing discrimination, and enforce the protections of the Fair Housing Act of 1968.

Today, that longstanding commitment is at risk. Recent HUD actions could prevent experienced, community-based organizations from receiving the funding they need to continue serving people facing housing discrimination.

During Fair Housing Week of Action, we're calling on Congress to protect the local organizations that make fair housing protections meaningful in communities across the country.

We’re so close to reaching our goal of 5,000 messages! Send a message to your members of Congress today: https://bit.ly/FairHousingAction2026Member

Housing discrimination doesn't end when funding to fight it disappears.

During this Fair Housing Week of Action, we're highlighting what's at stake if local fair housing organizations lose the federal funding they rely on to serve communities across the country.

These organizations are often the first place people turn to when experiencing housing discrimination. They help veterans secure reasonable accommodations, support seniors and people with disabilities seeking accessible housing, assist survivors of domestic and s*xual violence, and advocate for families and individuals facing unlawful discrimination because of their race, national origin, disability, s*xual orientation, gender identity, familial status, or other protected characteristics.

Without these organizations, many people could be left to navigate housing discrimination alone.

Join us in calling on Congress to protect local fair housing organizations and preserve critical fair housing enforcement:

🚨 Fair Housing Week of Action is here.

Local fair housing organizations have been on the front lines of fighting housing discrimination for decades. But today, many are at risk of closure.

Recent HUD actions could prevent experienced local organizations from receiving the federal funding they need to investigate discrimination, educate communities, and enforce the protections guaranteed under the Fair Housing Act of 1968. Without that funding, those critical organizations may be forced to close, layoff staff or significantly reduce services.

These organizations handle more than 70% of housing discrimination cases nationwide. If they disappear, countless individuals and families could lose trusted advocates when they need one most.

Now is the time to act.

Our goal is to send 5,000 messages to Congress urging lawmakers to:
✔️ Protect local fair housing organizations
✔️ Preserve fair housing enforcement
✔️ Ensure communities continue to have access to critical support

Support fair housing in Massachusetts in just a few clicks! https://actionnetwork.org/letters/ask-your-legislators-to-support-fair-housing-in-massachusetts?source=email&
Over the past year, federal agencies have scaled back fair housing oversight and cut off funding for private fair housing groups that are already stretched thin. But fair housing goes beyond federal policy; states can further fair housing too.
Right now, the Massachusetts Legislature can take two major steps to promote equal access to housing in the Commonwealth:
✅ Fund local fair housing organizations through the annual state budget
✅ Pass a slate of pending fair housing bills
Contact your legislators today and urge them to support these fair housing priorities! https://actionnetwork.org/letters/ask-your-legislators-to-support-fair-housing-in-massachusetts?source=email&
Hearing from constituents like you can convince legislators to fund fair housing groups and pass these bills.

April is National Fair Housing Month, commemorating the passage of the Fair Housing Act on April 11, 1968, which prohibits discrimination in housing, rentals, and financing based on race, color, national origin, religion, s*x, familial status, or disability.

As we continue fair housing efforts, we are committed to helping you know your rights, understand what constitutes discrimination, and know how to report it. Fair Housing is for all.
