LGBTQ+ people commonly face higher rates of depression, anxiety, and suicidal thoughts because of the discrimination and harassment they receive from society. LGBTQ+ youth are at particular risk, with research conducted by The Trevor Project showing that 42% of LGBTQ youth seriously considered attempting su***de in the past year, including more than half of transgender and nonbinary youth. September is National Su***de Month and we must work together to help prevent su***de. If you are a young person in crisis, feeling suicidal, or in need of a safe and judgment-free place to talk, call the TrevorLifeline now at 1-866-488-7386.
