Our Member of the Month spotlight for May has doubled... and we couldn’t be more excited to honor the many supportive efforts of our favorite power couple, Sameen Dadfar and Jon Groleau!
Jon first connected with our founder, Brian Wollenberg, at a networking event 13 years ago. They immediately hit it off, and from that day forward, Jon and Thrivent became dedicated supporters and volunteers of the organization.
In 2017, when Sameen and Jon met, he introduced her to Byron Saunders, and together they have been enthusiastic and reliable supporters of the Byron Saunders Foundation ever since. They bring an unmistakable aura of joy into every room they enter, forming new friendships and connections at every event.
For 13 years, Jon Groleau has served as a financial representative with Thrivent. As the only not-for-profit Fortune 500 organization, Thrivent partners with individuals and families to navigate life’s financial challenges with care and purpose. Their unique combination of financial services and generosity programs empowers clients to make a meaningful impact, just as Jon has done through his continued support of our organization. His team at Thrivent has been a prominent sponsor since the Dancing with our Columbus Stars (DWOCS) event began.
Sameen is the owner of Sameen’s Boucakes, where she specializes in creating stunning floral cupcakes. What began as a passion project has grown into a full time business, allowing her to design baked goods that are almost too beautiful to eat. In 2024, Sameen transitioned from an enthusiastic DWOCS audience member to one of our very own Stars. Alongside her pro partner, Cedric Eaton, she took first place and brought home the Mirrorball Trophy. Together, they also set a fundraising record, raising an incredible $30,706, a milestone that still stands today. Will one of our 2026 couples rise to the challenge and take home the Dadfar-Eaton Award?
Collectively, Jon and Sameen have raised over $50,000 for the Byron Saunders Foundation. Their commitment to service extends even further as they continue to support numerous nonprofit organizations across Columbus, including A Kid Again, NC4K, Habitat for Humanity Mid Ohio, and many others. Their generosity, energy, and dedication continue to grow our BSF family, and we are so grateful for the impact they make.
