This is wonderful news for Floyd County students. Thank you, Floyd County Legacy Foundation, for supporting the work of Blessings in a Backpack Floyd County and helping feed kids in our community.

We are awed and honored by the generosity of the Floyd County Legacy Foundation and their grant of $35,000 to Blessings in a Backpack Floyd County. They recognize that feeding kids today not only helps support those kids’ health and education today, but also is an investment in the future of our community.
Thank you, Floyd County Legacy Foundation!

A book in the mailbox is a wonderful start. What happens next matters, too.

Dolly Parton's Imagination Library helps children build home libraries one book at a time, but the real magic happens when a parent, grandparent, babysitter, or caregiver sits down and reads with them.

Reading together, asking questions, pointing out letters, talking about the pictures, and rereading favorite stories all help children build early literacy skills before they begin school.

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library also offers free parent resources to help families make the most of each book, including reading tips, activity sheets, book guides, tip cards, bilingual FAQs, and ideas inside the books.

Big news for Indiana families! Dolly Parton's Imagination Library is now available in all 92 Indiana counties, giving every child under age 5 the opportunity to receive free books mailed directly to their home.

Here in Floyd County, this work is powered locally by the NAFC Education Foundation and made possible through community support.

Since launching in Floyd County, the program has served more than 20,000 children and mailed more than 675,000 books to help build home libraries before children even begin school.

Each book delivered is another chance for a child to hear a story, learn new words, and develop a love of reading from the very beginning.

Great Classroom Grants in action at Grant Line Elementary!

Thanks to support from the New Albany-Floyd County Education Foundation, the Grant Line library was able to add hands-on STEM activity packs for students across multiple grade levels.

We love seeing the library become an even more interactive space for creativity, critical thinking, and exploration.

Thank you to our donors and community supporters who help make these opportunities possible for NAFC students!

As Mental Health Awareness Month comes to a close, we are highlighting a new option in 2026, the Pre-Certified Programs within the Mental Health Grants.

Current Pre-Certified PrograCurrent Pre-Certified Progra include:
- B.A.Y.A. “Beautiful As You Are”
- LOOK OUT FOR THE LEFT OUT
- Play It Safe!®
- The DUDE Project

Hazelwood students recently participated in a B.A.Y.A. Self-Love Day Retreat, where they spent the day focusing on self-love, confidence, and embracing who they are. Parents shared that their daughters loved the experience and continued talking about it afterward.

We have also seen the continued impact of LOOK OUT FOR THE LEFT OUT in our schools, including at S. Ellen Jones Elementary, where students and staff have taken part in assemblies, classroom visits, and hands-on activities centered on kindness, inclusion, and connection.

By introducing these Pre-Certified Programs, we hope to keep responding to the needs of our educators and make it easier to bring meaningful support into more NAFC schools.

Funding for Mental Health Grants is still available for NAFC educators: https://tinyurl.com/2026MentalHealthGrantApp

Because of community support, this work continues.
