Trevor Nusbaum (shown with parents Mike and Amber) shared about his Eagle Scout Project – a sunshade over Patton Park, the green space, at the Nevada Library and a picnic table. He still needs help funding the paved sidewalk leading to the space. Hopes to complete the project this summer.

Jalene Hornbuckle (R) introduced Marlys Swanson Brehm (L), a 20-year board member of the Community Cupboard of Nevada, IA. Marlys shared the history and statistics of the organization and said more volunteers are needed to help fill grocery bags on Saturday mornings. The cupboard receives money from grants and donations, and purchases most of their food through the Iowa Food Bank. A partnership with Raising Readers and ISU Extension also provides families with needed resources.

Nevada Kiwanis recently made its annual donation of bags of food for students in the Nevada Community School District. These bags will be sent home with students to ensure they have food to eat during Spring Break. We are grateful to our local Fareway store for supporting our efforts with discounts on the food items we purchased, and to Barilla for pasta and sauce. Here at Bricktown we ❤️ snow days! Its always fun to see the toughest among you that think it a challenge to make it to the bakery and get some snow day donuts or delicious hot cocoa. That being said we wanted to say thanks and to let you know our donut dream team (Josh, Nicole and Brandon) are working hard and we will have donuts ready for you tomorrow and are planning to open as usual but, because of thru the night wind and snow predicted we won't have Pretzels until 10am tomorrow, just so you know 😉
p.s. may also be a skeleton crew (paula+mike) so we appreciate your patience with us, especially with Mr. Feltner 😉 hehe
