Calling all pie makers! The Vernon County 4-H Council would appreciate any pie donations for the 4-H BBQ on Saturday Oct 3rd. Please let any 4-H Council officer or advisor know if this amazing group can count on your skills! Pies may be delivered to the fairgrounds between 10 am and 4 pm. Feel free to comment below if you plan to bring pies and which variety/flavor.

Reminder!! Your BBQ tickets and or Money are DUE to the Extension Office!! I need to order meat and supplies!
Tickets can be purchased at the office until next Wed. There will be a limited amount of tickets sold at the door the day of event (Oct 3). Also- we are still taking pie donations for the separate fundraiser! 🥧

🍂 HELLO, FALL! 🍂

Today is the first day of fall! As the days get shorter and temperatures begin to cool, nature starts changing all around us.

Have you ever wondered why leaves change color? 🍁

During the growing season, leaves look green because they contain chlorophyll, a pigment that helps plants use sunlight to make food. As days get shorter and temperatures change, trees stop producing as much chlorophyll. Other pigments that were already in the leaves become easier to see, creating the reds, oranges and yellows we associate with fall.

🔎 4-H Fall Challenge: Head outside and find three different types of leaves. Look closely at their shapes, colors, textures and patterns. What differences do you notice?

Learning doesn't have to happen inside a classroom. Sometimes, it starts with simply looking a little closer at the world around you.
