What a beautiful day at the yesterday. Our community arrived with such warmth, presence, and genuine appreciation for handmade work. The energy inside the felt like a celebration of creativity itself. The work that was presented by our makers was brilliant and unique on a soul level!
Our crafters and patrons shared such heartfelt reflections with me about one another. Many expressed that this is their favorite craft fair to participate in, while patrons shared that it’s their personal favorite craft fair to attend. After nearly 14 years since its inception, hearing that is deeply meaningful.
Nevada City Craft Fair has been part of my life since 2015, when the original people who started this event passed the torch over to me to be its producer and steward. Each year it continues to evolve and deepen. In a world that is rapidly shifting its ideas of what art is and how it’s made, our community reminds us that there is still a profound respect for craftsmanship, for the human hand, and for the integrity of handmade goods. Craft will always be craft. It is a lineage of old methods, many that are ancient, made new. To carry them on is a tradition, a feat, and a way of seeing the world.
This is why we hold space for craftsmanship at the Nevada City Craft Fair — to honor the makers who keep these traditions alive and the community who recognizes their value.
A heartfelt thank you to the Miners Foundry for being our creative home and its team who ensures that this will always be important to the cultural arts. Most importantly to everyone who showed up to support local artisans and to celebrate creativity, integrity, and handmade culture.
Long live craft. ✨🧡
