This October, additional Community Green Waste Drop-off Events will be held at the McCourtney Road Transfer Station, sponsored by WM (Waste Management) in partnership with the Office of Emergency Services and Nevada County Public Works.

Insurance companies agree and there’s an industry standard on wildfire home preparedness. Fire Safe Nevada County Coalition’s daylong Oct. 5 workshop aims to train community members in these standards in order to protect our fire-prone communities and perhaps pursue insurance discounts. Insurance Commissioner Lara adopts judge's ruling to allow State Farm an interim rate hike of 17%. (State Farm had asked for 21.8%.) This move was made to prevent insolvency. This agreement includes a State Farm commitment to not issue block non-renewals throughout 2025. You can read the press release here:
