County staff, volunteers, and partners—including Sierra Roots, Spirit Peer Empowerment Center and law enforcement—are working around the clock to ensure our most vulnerable neighbors have a safe place to be. This coordinated effort continues both overnight and during the day, despite road conditions and outages.

The Emergency Weather Shelter has been open all week to keep our neighbors safe during freezing temperatures—and we’re extending operations for two additional nights:

📍 Location: Nevada City Veterans Hall (lower level) 415 N. Pine St., Nevada City
🕓 Doors open: 4:30 PM – 8:00 PM
🍽️ Dinner served: 5:30 PM
🐾 Pets welcome (must stay with owner and remain on leash)

Please arrive before 8:00 PM. Those who only need a meal are welcome—no overnight stay required ❤️

While most County facilities are closed today due to the storm, the Commons Resource Center remains OPEN for anyone seeking respite.

Shout out to our crews and partners who, behind the scenes, are:
🚙Transporting staff and residents through treacherous conditions
🚜Clearing roads and snow from critical infrastructure like the Commons Resource Center
🤝Coordinating meals and shelter operations
👮🏻‍♀️Working continuously with partners to respond to emergencies

Remember to keep checking in with your neighbors, provide help where you can, and take care of each other.
