Thank you everyone that attended the opening reception for Lavender Glow | Q***r Art & Our Shared History !

This latest Art in Public Spaces exhibition showcases a variety of artworks, historical photographs, and panels highlighting q***r history in Nevada County and throughout the region. In recognition of Pride Month and the contributions of q***r individuals to the arts, culture, and community of Nevada County this exhibition is on display at the Nevada County Government Center until Friday, August 28. Please join us for the Art in Public Spaces opening reception for Lavender Glow | Q***r Art and our Shared History on Friday, June 12! 🎨

From Nisenan history to today, Lavender Glow explores and celebrates the stories, creativity, and contributions of q***r individuals and communities who have helped shape our region’s arts, culture, and connection to place. Featuring local history highlights and over 40 artworks selected from 127 submissions, the exhibition brings together history, art, and personal stories that reflect the richness of our community.

A big congratulations to our friend and arts advocate, Michelle Amador for her recent appointment as Executive Director of The Center for the Arts!

During the past decade living in Nevada County, Michelle has been an avid supporter of the arts and our creative community. Serving on our Board of Directors and the board of the recently established Community Foundation of Nevada County, her extensive background in the arts and nonprofit leadership makes her the perfect person for the role.

We're excited to see Michelle bring her passion, vision, and creativity to The Center.

Join us this Friday, June 12, 4:30pm for the Opening Reception for Lavender Glow | Q***r Art & Our Shared History at the Nevada County Government Center.

Through careful curation and collaboration with a variety of community members, this Art in Public Spaces exhibition reflects on, and celebrates, the lived experiences and legacies of q***r individuals and groups whose collective influence demonstrates a profound investment in and lasting impact on place, arts, and culture.

Alongside highlights of local and regional history, Lavender Glow features 41 artworks selected from 127 submissions.
