Thank you everyone that attended the opening reception for Lavender Glow | Q***r Art & Our Shared History !

This latest Art in Public Spaces exhibition showcases a variety of artworks, historical photographs, and panels highlighting q***r history in Nevada County and throughout the region. In recognition of Pride Month and the contributions of q***r individuals to the arts, culture, and community of Nevada County this exhibition is on display at the Nevada County Government Center until Friday, August 28. From Nisenan history to today, Lavender Glow explores and celebrates the stories, creativity, and contributions of q***r individuals and communities who have helped shape our region’s arts, culture, and connection to place. Featuring local history highlights and over 40 artworks selected from 127 submissions, the exhibition brings together history, art, and personal stories that reflect the richness of our community.

A big congratulations to our friend and arts advocate, Michelle Amador for her recent appointment as Executive Director of The Center for the Arts!

During the past decade living in Nevada County, Michelle has been an avid supporter of the arts and our creative community. Serving on our Board of Directors and the board of the recently established Community Foundation of Nevada County, her extensive background in the arts and nonprofit leadership makes her the perfect person for the role.

We're excited to see Michelle bring her passion, vision, and creativity to The Center.
