I hate the term “Ice Storm.”

I’ve always hated using it because I know that it’s such a triggering phrase, because of previous ice events… But, this has the potential to be a significant amount of ice, so in this case it fits. 

Significant ice accumulation is possible this weekend. There is some potential for convectively enhanced accumulation (think thunder-sleet or thunder-freezing rain). Storms become a real wild card in this scenario, and could make for really big problems if one of these them comes over you while it’s below freezing.

In some cases, ice/sleet totals will exceed an inch, and could get to nearly double that. That’s gonna mess up travel, and could disrupt power in some spots.

Impacts start overnight Friday leading into early Saturday, and continue through Sunday.  it will not be icing the entire time for everybody.
