Our Garden Area is complete!

The FFA received a National FFA Living to Serve Grant for $1,000.00, in addition they received an additional $1,000.00 from their Community free will donation Breakfast that went towards: plants, metal, wood, mulch and other supplies. The FFA stayed within their budget for the project and created: 6 benches, 3 tables, 6 garden beds and tarped/mulched a 40’x40’ area.

Brandon T and Layton H were in charge of designing and making the benches. Brynlee P and Lorelei O were in charge of laying the tarp, choosing the plants and setting up the garden beds. Hannah Y and Jewel H were in charge of the social media campaign and designing QR Codes that will be displayed this coming Fall for different recipes and activities community members can complete within the garden. Mrs. Klozenbucher was in charge of writing the grant and overseeing the budget of items needed to complete the activity.

Next spring these garden beds will be full of vegetable seedlings which will produce crops that will be donated locally. The benches, tables and swing will be available for use by students and community members as long as they are not vandalized.

The agricultural classes have been working diligently on our Living to Serve Garden Area.

This will soon be a place where students can have a potential for differentiated learning where classes can be outside with the benches and tables that are close to being finished. We also are beginning to get our garden beds filled with soil, so that in future years we can provide fresh vegetables to our community.

Each of the benches will have a different plaque of the FFA Motto: Learning to Do, Doing to Learn. Earning to Live, Living to Serve.

Each of the Garden beds will have a plaque officer positions.

Finally, all members who have helped plan and implement a portion of the project will sign their names on FFA emblems which will be secured to our swinging bench.

Excited to share results of the completed area next week!
