The Nesquehoning Historical Society is pleased to announce the next event in a series of Local History Presentations as part of Carbon County & Nesquehoningโ€™s America250 Celebration.

Local historian and author Vince Hydro will narrate a visual presentation entitled: โ€œThe History of Mooreโ€™s Ravine and Glen Onoko.โ€

In the 1870s, as part of plans to increase weekend excursions to Mauch Chunk and vicinity, the Lehigh Valley Railroad converted Mooreโ€™s Ravine into a tourist attraction known as Glen Onoko. Hydroโ€™s presentation will include:

๏ƒ˜ The history of the area as a tourist attraction
๏ƒ˜ A photographic tour of the Falls
๏ƒ˜ The Wahnetah Hotel
๏ƒ˜ The abandoned village of Hetcheltooth
๏ƒ˜ Packerโ€™s Point Lookout
๏ƒ˜ The abandoned Railroad Tunnel
๏ƒ˜ Much Much More!

Join us for either of two showings; doors open an hour before the presentation.

Monday, November 2, 2026, at 6:00 pm
And
Saturday, November 7, 2026, at 12:00 Noon

These presentations will take place at the NHS Museum, 157 West Railroad Street, Corner of Ratcliff and Railroad Sts. in Nesquehoning. There is ample parking available in the large lot located next to the Museum, however, we have filled up the lot at recent events. Come early to get a good parking spot and seat in the Museum.

This event is open to the public free of charge, although donations to the Historical Society are appreciated, and enable the society to maintain the Museum and presentation space.
