Our 4-H Shooting Sports Quiz Bowl Team placed 1st today! Everyone is experiencing new things, making new friends and shining bright representing DeSoto County! We will share snapshots recapping their time yesterday and today a little later…until then help us congratulate this team!

Red, white and blue! Check out our BIG DeSoto County Delegation! Our 4-Hers, volunteers and agents had a great 1st day at 4-H Congress. Help us wish our 4-Hers good luck as they compete and network this week while on the MSU campus 🍀💚

4-H Record Books! The Mississippi 4-H Record-Keeping Program has been around for years! This is a great way for 4-Hers to get goals and record their efforts towards meeting those goals. 4-Hers select a project and learn life skills that will benefit them throughout their lives!

Age categories:
-Juniors age 8-9
-Juniors age 10-11
-Intermediates age 12-14
-Seniors age 15-18.

4-Hers work at their own pace on an individual project, include a 4-H story and photos, and complete 4-H report forms. Ribbons and prize money is awarded to winners and the winning Senior Record Books receives a reward trip to National Congress.

4-H Steam Day ALERT! Calling all those from DeSoto County who want to participate in 4-H Steam Day! It's FRIDAY, June 26th this year in Starkville, MS. The theme is Alice in Wonderland. Open to 4-Hers ages 5-13. Message, email or call us if you would like more information of contest events! We've had 4-Hers attend this event in the past and be very successful!

🍀Cloverbuds (5-7 year old) may participate but are not scored.
🍀Juniors (8-13 year olds) are scored and will be ranked.

We are excited to announce this year’s 4-H BBQ Cook-out Contest & 4-H Omelet Contest. Please see the information below and mark your calendars.
North Cook-out: July 8th - Montgomery County
South Cook-out: July 7th- Forrest County
State Cook-out: July 14th - MSU campus Poultry Science Building

Who can participate? Both Junior (8-13) and Senior (ages 14-18) 4-Her's.

Senior participants placing 1st-3rd in Chicken and Turkey ONLY at the regional contests will advance to compete at the state level in the national qualifier. Grand champions of the state contest will advance to the national contest in Louisville, KY.

Both regional contests will include the following categories:

🍗Chicken
🦃Turkey
🥚Omelet Cook-Off (see below)

FYI the 4-H Omelet Cook-off Pre-Qualifier for State Fair is the SAME DATE as the BBQ Cookout! This year they will no longer accept recipe submissions. This year you have to do the pre-qualifying contest to determine who will advance to compete at the 4-H Day at the State Fair Omelet Contest. We will share additional registration and details soon as we get them! But add this to your calendar if you're interested in this contest.
