Neptune Uniformed Firefighters - IAFF Local 2691

This past Sunday, members from the Neptune Fire District attended the annual Firefighters Memorial and Medal Day Ceremony held at the Monmouth County Fire Marshal’s Office.

Members from both the Volunteer and Career staff were recognized for their actions performed at a residential fire in May of 2024. Because of their heroic actions an unconscious victim was rescued. Further actions from the firefighters involved started life saving CPR until EMS was able to transport the victim the hospital where they made a full recovery.

Career Captain Matthew Kepler was awarded the Medal of Valvor - Class II for rescuing the victim. Members who assisted with the rescue were awarded a Unit Citation; FF Bryan Bonanno, FF James Corrao, FF Patrick Schinder, Chief Albert Fritz Jr., Captain Daniel Harker, Captain Jake Niedenstein, Lieutenant Chaka Freeman, FF Frank Sutphin, FF Charles Borges, FF Otis Henderson, FF Nick Megill and Sean Donohue.

On Thursday, March 13th 2025, just after 11:20, the Neptune Fire District was dispatched to a reported fire on the 700 block of Doris Terrace. Due to multiple calls a box alarm was transmitted prior to FD arrival. 3466 arrived on location shortly after, confirmed a working fire and took Command. 3474 arrived on location and the crew deployed an 1 3/4” handline to extinguish the fire. Due to the fire conditions a second handline was deployed by the crew of 3475 to help extinguish the fire. 8389 arrived and vented the roof. 52290 arrived on location and helped conduct searches which turned out to be negative. Tinton Falls Fire was RIT for the duration of the incident. The fire was placed under control within an hour. Thank you to all units that were on location for the assistance and to location our cover assignments.

Local 2691 members and family participated this year in the Tunnel to Towers Foundation run. This run honors FF Stephen Siller who ran the same route on that tragic day of 9/11/2001, trying to help save lives. Inevitability, he lost his life in the process, becoming one of the 343 firefighters killed that day.
