We are filling up fast, thanks for your support! February 22 is the last day to purchase banquet packages, unless we fill up before then. We hope most of you will support us at our annual banquet on February 28th this year at the Davis Conference Center. We will have a buffet dinner this year (green salad, baby back ribs, barbecue chicken, brisket, baked potato, lemonade and assorted desserts). For those of you who help us and donate, THANK YOU! We decided to participate with the DWR program to auction an upcoming Cache Bull Moose Any Weapon Hunt Sept. 13-Oct. 31 2025.

This tag will be auctioned online Feb. 25 - March 3. We decided to partner with the NWTF to auction the Cache Bull Moose Tag online. This provides us a cost-free way to reach as many people as possible. Look for emails and updates on our Website and spread the word to those you know who might be interested in this rare tag.

The money generated from the sale of this tag will go directly to Utah WRI wildlife projects as defined by law, but the UCWF will help decide which projects are funded with the money.

As we are preparing for our annual banquet and fundraiser next week, we also want to inform you of another opportunity to help wildlife conservation.

We will be auctioning The Cache Bull Moose Any Weapon Hunt Sept. 13-Oct. 31 2025.

This hunt will be auctioned online beginning Feb. 25 and ending on March 3. at hnfauctions.com The money generated by this auction goes to Utah Division of Wildlife Resources habitat projects and allows us to have a voice in how the money is spent.

We hope this post finds you well and that you are having a great season! Members should receive a Winter Newsletter this week. We had some challenges with our website recently, but it is up and running currently. If we have further problems, check back the next day or look for emails with updates. Early bird prices end on February 8 and we expect to fill up again this year, so please don't wait to buy your tickets. Spread the word to those you know as well. Each spring I get up early in the morning to count Sage Grouse while they are strutting on what is called a Lek. This morning, I was watching 12 birds strut around when they suddenly stopped and hunkered down. Normally this happens if there is a coyote or eagle close by but I couldn't see any. All I could see was a lone deer close by who was also acting strange. Since the deer was being strange, I thought for sure there had to be a coyote nearby. However, while I was watching the deer, it was getting closer and closer to the birds before running towards them and chasing them off. It was the weirdest thing I think I have ever seen. I know deer can be aggressive to dogs and coyotes, but I never thought they would chase birds away. I guess that is why they call them wildlife. :)

This year’s annual banquet will be held at the Sheraton in downtown SLC on February 26th. Please sign up early for the banquet to make sure you have a spot. We anticipate filling up and the earlier you sign up the better the deals and the better we can plan accordingly.

Earl Sutherland from 4 Mile Hunting Club reached out to us and was wondering if we had any members who could assist him on Friday morning 5/21 from like 8am-12pm. He needs assistance putting blinders on some birds. He has been an excellent supporter to the Utah Chukar & Wildlife Foundation over past 10+ years so it would be great to return the favor.

If anyone can assist him please let us know. I know he would greatly appreciate it and would probably make it up to you in some way.

We hope this finds you well. Due to COVID constraints, we will postpone our annual banquet this year. We plan to do a summer outdoor barbecue event that we hope will be banquetish. If that is not possible, we will do a non-eating outdoor activity or some virtual auctions/raffles to help raise money. Look for more information by email and in our spring newsletter. Our winter newsletter will come out toward the end of this month. We plan to have a traditional banquet in Feb. of 2022, as we have in the past.

As an all volunteer organization, our banquet is our main fundraiser and generates almost all the money we use for upland projects on Utah's public lands. We hope you find yourself in a position to continue to support us even though our banquet is postponed. Here are some ways you can support our cause:

As many of you know, Darin Gardner has been experiencing some difficult medical issues. Darin has been one of the biggest individual contributors and sponsors of the UCWF and the taxidermy he has provided has won numerous awards.

The UCWF would like to donate one of our original Strap Vests to raffle and give the proceeds to the fund to help Darin out during this difficult time.

For every $20 donated, you will get a raffle ticket for the Vest. The vests have been selling for $240 and you can see pictures of the vest on our Store page at: http://www.utahchukars.org/store/

I just want to thank everyone who took the time from their busy schedules to attend our annual banquet and fundraiser Saturday night. We had a great crowd and we gave out a lot of merchandise prizes and guns. We really appreciate the support we get from our sponsors and the members of the chukar foundation and especially those who put in the time to make it successful.

During the banquet, we showed a promotional video for the chukar foundation. The video was produced by Alan Peterson and he did a very good job of showing what we are all about. If you have an extra 10 minutes, take a look.
