Rotarian of the Day: Steve Kenny!

Today, we’re grateful to have Steve Kenny as our Rotarian of the Day, bringing attention to an important part of our community—the Neosho Recycling Center!

We were honored to hear from Diane Howell, Lead Recycling Attendant for the City of Neosho, who shared about the work being done to keep our community cleaner, greener, and more sustainable.

Thank you, Diane, for sharing your knowledge and for the important work you do for Neosho! And thank you, Steve, for helping connect our Rotary Club with the people and organizations making a difference in our community.

Rotary is all about Service Above Self—and today was a great reminder of what that looks like right here in Neosho!

Today’s Rotarian of the Day, Dr. Kent Farnsworth, brought us a wonderful program highlighting the Joplin Interfaith Coalition and its mission of building understanding, fellowship, and service among people of different faith traditions throughout Joplin and the surrounding area.

We learned that the coalition’s roots go back to the aftermath of the 2011 Joplin tornado, when members of different religious communities came together for an interfaith service. Those relationships continued to grow through additional gatherings and acts of support—including faith communities coming together following the 2012 arson attack on the Joplin mosque.

Today, the Joplin Interfaith Coalition continues working to create opportunities for people to learn about one another’s beliefs and traditions while joining together in community service projects.

Thank you to Dr. Kent Farnsworth for arranging today’s program and to our presenter for sharing the history and mission of this organization with the Neosho Rotary Club.

Different backgrounds, shared community, and a commitment to serving others—that’s a message that fits perfectly with Rotary’s Service Above Self. 💙💛

Today’s Rotarian of the Day, Rudy Farber, arranged for Lori Worthington from JRAH to join us and share with our club!

We’re especially grateful for Rudy and the many ways he has given back to our community over the years. His commitment to service and to making Neosho a better place truly reflects what Rotary is all about. We are thankful to have him as part of our club!

Today, Neosho Rotary was honored to welcome Dr. Philip Witt, Academic Director at Crowder College, as our guest speaker.

Dr. Witt shared valuable insights into the educational opportunities available through Crowder College and the important role the college plays in preparing students for successful careers while supporting workforce development throughout our region. We appreciate his passion for student success and his dedication to providing accessible, high-quality education.

A big thank you to the team from Compass Academy Network (CAN)⁠ for taking the time to speak with us at Rotary today!

It was great learning more about the amazing work CAN is doing to provide fun, engaging, and enriching opportunities for kids throughout the summer. Their programs help keep children learning, building confidence, and making connections long after the school year ends.

We’re fortunate to have organizations like CAN investing in the children and families of our community. Thank you for sharing your mission with us and for all you do to make a positive impact!
