⭐️-It was a warm but beautiful day to celebrate Neosho, Missouri, and bring local history to life.

Three of our Chautauqua characters began the day with fabulous vintage hairstyles at the Neosho Beauty and Barber College before joining Neosho JROTC members, local volunteers, and community leaders at the Neosho Area Chamber of Commerce.📍 Next we had Lunch at the Eastside Social on the Historic Square.

Together, we shared updates about the Camp Crowder documentary, "The Middle of Everywhere," and celebrated the farmers, families, service members, and workers whose efforts reached far beyond Newton County, even helping shape the journey to the moon.⏳🚀

Thank you to everyone helping preserve and share the incredible stories of Camp Crowder, Rocketdyne, and the lasting legacy of our community.❤️✨ We will be visiting other locations in the area, so if you have an idea of where you would like to see us, please let us know and we just might have to make it happen as our todo list is now filling up fast before the documentary release day. Let’s create that buzz!

The “The Middle of Everywhere Documentary” is bringing history to life. 🎥🎞️

The Newton County Tourism Council is working with Chautauqua-style characters who will portray real men and women connected to Camp Crowder and Newton County's WWIl history. 📌

Six local cadets and two adults will be appearing around Neosho, Joplin, and possibly surrounding areas in period correct WWII uniforms to help promote the documentary, educate the community, and build excitement for this special project. They’ll even have information on how you too can get involved. 💪♥️🫵

We are grateful for the continued efforts to honor the veterans who have served our country, and for the local businesses, organizations, and community members who help preserve these important stories for future generations.

Events like this remind us that Newton County's history is not only found in our places, but in the people, service, and sacrifices that continue to shape who we are.⏰

🚀 What an exciting moment for Neosho, Missouri!

The Space Museum and Grissom Center recently visited Neosho for an open public presentation at the New-Mac Electric building, sharing their heart, mission, and vision with local community leaders and residents.

One of the most meaningful highlights was welcoming Lowell Grissom, brother of astronaut Gus Grissom, right here to Neosho. Gus Grissom’s legacy is forever tied to America’s space story, and having his brother here helped make this conversation even more inspiring for our community.

Earl Mullins, president of The Space Museum in Bonne Terre, Missouri, joined Lowell Grissom and other board members to share why the museum is exploring Neosho as a possible future home. Their organization has grown through years of dedication, hard work, and a deep love for preserving the artifacts and stories that helped inspire space exploration for Missouri, America, and the world.

For Neosho, this possibility feels truly special. Our town has meaningful ties to rocket engineering, aerospace history, and the space race, making this connection feel like a natural fit.

The excitement around this opportunity continues to grow. The relocation of The Space Museum and Grissom Center could bring education, history, tourism, inspiration, and economic impact together in a way that would benefit Neosho, Newton County, and the entire state.

Neosho has a story worth celebrating, and this opportunity could help launch that story even farther. 💫 Space, history, education, and community. What an incredible possibility for Neosho, Missouri.
