Honored, to say the least, to have played a part in this award.

Today, we’re celebrating a transformational win for rural healthcare in Southeast Kansas.

Wilson Medical Center has been awarded a $1.55 MILLION state grant to help strengthen and reimagine healthcare access right here at home — including a long-awaited renovation of Neodesha Family Medicine.
This means expanded services, enhanced patient care, upgraded equipment, and a healthier future for the communities we love most. Out of 72 applications statewide, only 17 organizations were selected — and Wilson Medical Center was one of them.

Small towns deserve BIG investment. And we’re just getting started!

A few weeks ago, I got to experience firsthand how valuable our rural health clinics are for local families. 💙

My youngest son wasn’t feeling well. I called that morning and was able to get a same-day appointment quickly. We had answers, treatment, and peace of mind within hours. Every staff member we encountered was incredibly caring and attentive along the way.

Neodesha Family Medicine and Independence Family Medicine provide an important service to our communities through primary care, same-day appointments, extended hours, and walk-in availability in Independence.

Experiences like this are a great reminder of why Wilson Medical Center Foundation exists! Supporting and strengthening local healthcare services for our community members every day.

Working in healthcare philanthropy means getting a front row seat to the people who make local healthcare possible every single day.

From providers and nurses to support staff, volunteers, donors, and community partners; it truly takes all of us working together to keep quality care close to home.

One thing I’ve learned quickly is that rural healthcare is personal. The people caring for patients are often caring for neighbors, classmates, friends, and family members, too. That’s what makes community support so meaningful.

I’m excited to continue sharing more about the work happening at Wilson Medical Center and the ways the Foundation helps support it behind the scenes. 💙

It's Hospital Week and at Wilson Medical Center we're going all out! We've had food trucks, games and today I'm in the lobby chatting with staff about our Employee Giving Program. Huge thanks to LOVE CORN DrinkLMNT and The Gingham Pig: a Meat Boutique • Neodesha•Kansas for helping us put together some fun appreciation goodie bags for our team!

I’m so thankful for the incredible staff who make sharing the story of our hospital easy every single day. 💙

Hello! My name is Miranda Carpenter. I’m a Southeast Kansas native with a passion for community health and wellness, youth engagement and economic development.

I’m excited to connect with you all and share more about the great things happening at Wilson Medical Center and through the WMC Foundation!

We are thrilled to share that Miranda Carpenter has been named the new Foundation Director for Wilson Medical Center.

A longtime Neodesha resident with deep community roots and an unwavering belief in the power of connection, Miranda steps into this role ready to strengthen partnerships, elevate philanthropy, and help secure a vibrant future for healthcare across our region.

Her leadership represents something bigger than a title. It reflects growth. And a bold investment in the sustainability of rural healthcare right here at home.
