The Athens County Sheriff's Office is seeking qualified applicants for a part-time Administrative Assistant position. This position serves as a primary point of contact for the public and requires strong technology skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work with multiple computer systems in a professional law enforcement environment.
Responsibilities Include:
• Greeting and assisting visitors
• Answering and directing telephone calls
• Processing concealed handgun license applications
• Conducting BCI/FBI background checks
• Performing electronic fingerprinting services
• Entering, maintaining, retrieving, and verifying information in multiple databases and software systems
• Processing payments and maintaining electronic records
• Assisting with records management, scanning, and document retention
• Providing administrative support to Sheriff's Office personnel
• Maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information
Minimum Qualifications:
• High school diploma or GED
• Administrative, clerical, customer service, or office experience preferred
• Strong computer proficiency required, including Microsoft Office, email, data entry, and the ability to learn specialized software
• Experience working in multiple computer systems and databases preferred
• Excellent organizational, communication, and multitasking skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality
Requirements:
• Successful criminal background investigation
• Clean criminal history
• Eligibility for access to state and federal law enforcement information systems
• Valid driver's license
• Professionalism, integrity, discretion, and strong interpersonal skills
Work Schedule:
• Part-time position
• Approximately 19–28 hours per week
• Hours scheduled between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday
• Schedule may vary based on operational needs
Compensation:
Hourly wage based on qualifications and experience.
