This is Kristen! She was enrolled with Hocking College Aspire program to complete her GED. She completed all four parts in LESS than a year and is now enrolled in Hocking College!!! WAY TO GO KRISTEN!!!

Words from Kristen: “I am grateful for where I am today, it doesn’t matter how old you are or how long you’ve been out of school. It is never too late to give yourself the education you deserve.”

Below are some questions Kristen answered about the program and completing her GED.

1. What motivated you to start the journey towards your GED?

“I always wanted to further my education, high school was hard for me and I had a lot of doubts. It took me a while to believe in myself and work harder to achieve my goals.”

2.What or who motivated you to keep going and complete your GED?

“Wanting a better future for myself and to be in a position where I could help others motivated me to complete my GED. I lost my cousin to a he**in overdose, he suffered from severe anxiety and personality disorders. I always wanted to help him, but I didn’t know how. I wanted to do this for both of us.
The support I received from my instructor helped me stay focused and positive when things didn’t go as expected. I don’t believe I could have finished the program as quickly as I did without her.”

3. What has changed in your life after obtaining your GED? (College, job, etc.)

“After obtaining my GED (the final week of registration for autumn semester) I rushed to admissions and scheduled my classes. With the help of my older sister, my former GED instructor and admissions at Hocking, I was able to start college that next week.
I managed to achieve one goal. I’m studying Social Work and I’m looking forward to achieving my next goal, helping others in just a few short years.”
