Can you think of someone who displayed extraordinary sportsmanship at a recent 4-H animal science program? Perhaps at a club meeting, clinic, or the county fair? Nominate them for the 2026 Michigan 4-H Animal Science Sportsperson of the Year Award!

This annual award recognizes one youth member and one adult 4-H leader who exemplify the definition of sportsmanship and have gone above and beyond to lend a helping hand to those around them during animal science programs. A couple important notes:
New this year: We are requiring that nominations are submitted by the county staff person (or supervising educator in counties with vacancies).
This is how most nominations were submitted in the past so this is not a change for most people!
Nominations from counties with staff vacancies still require a letter of support. This is not new. Supervisors – please do your best to write a letter! If you have any concerns, reach out to us.

Parents, are your teens creative, organized, and passionate about bringing people together? The 4-H Teen Event Planner role gives youth the opportunity to take the lead in designing and organizing exciting events for their peers and community. As a Teen Event Planner, they will develop valuable leadership, communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills while helping create meaningful experiences that make a positive impact. From brainstorming ideas and planning activities to promoting events and supporting event-day logistics, this role empowers teens to turn ideas into action and build confidence as leaders. Fishing enthusiasts, please join us for our next 4-H club meeting this Wednesday! We will be reviewing the knots we learned to tie last week, practicing casting and continuing to build our skills and get ready to get on the water! Bring your own pole if you have one, so you can master these skills with it! If you don't have your own equipment, that's okay- we've got you covered! Hope to see you there!
