Fulton County Foster Closet

Fulton County Foster Closet Ensuring every child entering foster care is met with dignity, comfort, and support.

04/06/2026

Did you know that in Pennsylvania there are about 11,250 children in foster care, and about 8,985 licensed foster homes?

Foster care is meant to be temporary, but for many children, the journey can be uncertain and challenging.

That’s why resources like the Fulton County Foster Closet exist…to help meet immediate needs during those first few days of placement.

We’ve had several people ask how they can donate to the Fulton County Foster Closet, and we are grateful for the support! 💛

At this time, donations are accepted by coordinating a drop-off or meeting time with us. If you would like to donate, please send us a message and we will work out a time that is convenient.

We are currently accepting:
• New hygiene items (toothbrushes, shampoo, body wash, etc.)
• Comfort items (small toys, blankets, books)
• Bags (tote bags, duffel bags)
• Gift cards (Visa or Walmart) to help purchase clothing as needs arise

If you would prefer to give a monetary donation, checks can be made out to Rehoboth New Life with “Foster Closet” in the memo.

We are so thankful for our community! 💛

We’ve received more donations this week, including 24 book bags, and a bag of toys and books to include in our ready-to-go bags for ages 3-10. It continues to amaze us how many people are willing to step in and support children entering foster and kinship care.

Every item donated - big or small - helps us be ready when a placement happens and allows us to provide for children during those first few days.

Thank you to everyone who has donated, shared our page, and supported this effort.

We’ll be sharing more tomorrow about how to donate and what items we are currently accepting, for anyone who has been wanting to get involved.

These are examples of our teen bags 💛

Teens entering foster or kinship care often have very few personal belongings of their own, and their needs can sometimes be overlooked. We put these bags together with that in mind.

Each bag includes essential items along with a few practical and comfort items. These are things that help teens feel more prepared and a little more like themselves during a difficult transition.

Our goal is to make those first few days just a bit easier.

If you are caring for a teen placement and could use support, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

These are examples of our ready-to-go bags for ages 3-10 💛

Each bag is put together to help meet some immediate needs when a child enters foster or kinship care. Specific items may vary, but bags typically include things like hygiene essentials, comfort items, small toys or books, and a bag so children have something of their own.

Our goal is to help make those first days a little easier for both the child and the family.

If you are a foster or kinship caregiver and have recently had a placement, please feel free to reach out. We would love to help!

This week the Fulton County Foster Closet was able to help our first foster family and children 💛

We provided ready-to-go bags along with clothing, shoes, Bibles, and other essential items for children recently entering care.

Everything given was made possible through donations from our community. What started as items on a table just a couple weeks ago is now going directly to families when they need it most.

We are so grateful for the support, encouragement, and prayers that have made this possible.

We are here and ready as more needs arise!

Over the next few days, we want to share what one of our ready-to-go bags might look like for each age group.

Here is an example of one of our baby bags 💛

When infants enter foster or kinship care, families often need essentials right away. Each baby bag is put together to help meet those immediate needs and may include items like hygiene essentials, blankets, and other basic supplies like bottles, binkies, comfort items, and books.

Every bag is designed to help provide comfort and support during those first days of a new placement.

If you are caring for a new placement or know someone who is and could use support, don’t hesitate to reach out.

How Does the Foster Closet Work?

The Fulton County Foster Closet exists to support foster and kinship families in our community when children enter care.

When a new placement happens, families often need basic items quickly. Our goal is to help by providing essential supplies and comfort items to help make those first days a little easier.

Who can use the Foster Closet?
• Foster Families
• Kinship Families
• Caseworkers supporting children in care

What kinds of items are available?
• Hygiene supplies
• Blankets and comfort items
• Books
• Backpacks, duffel bags, tote bags
• Household essentials for foster and kinship families

We have ready-to-go bags organized by age (baby, ages 3-10, and teens) and gender that can be quickly provided when a child enters care.

How to request support:
If you are a foster parent, kinship caregiver, or caseworker and have a need, please feel free to send us a message here on our page, or email [email protected]. We will do our best to respond quickly and arrange a pickup or porch drop-off.
*We do ask for a photo of placement record*

Everything provided through the foster closet is completely free.

We are grateful for the support our community has already shown for children entering foster care in our tristate area.

If you would like to support the foster closet through donations or gift cards, please feel free to reach out as well.

Today was a big step for the Foster Closet!

With the help of family, we spent the morning organizing all of the donations from our launch event, plus donations that have come in since then. Everything is now labeled and organized, and we were able to put together ready-to-go bags so we can quickly support foster and kinship families when a new placement happens.

We currently have bags prepared for:
• Babies
• Children ages 3-10
• Teens

Each bag includes essential hygiene items, comfort items, and a bag or backpack so children have something of their own when entering care.

We also have additional supplies organized and ready, including hygiene items, blankets, books, and household essentials for foster families.

We are also accepting donations of Visa or Walmart gift cards. While we do not have the storage for clothing of all sizes, we can use gift cards to purchase clothing on a case-by-case basis.

Thank you to everyone who has donated items, shared our page, or offered encouragement.

If you know of a foster or kinship family who could use support, please feel free to reach out.

We are grateful for the opportunity to serve children in our tristate area.

We are overwhelmed with gratitude after last night’s Foster Closet event. 💛

Around 40 members of our community came out to learn more about foster care and this new ministry to support children entering foster care across our tristate area (PA, MD, and WV).

By the end of the night, we had filled 10 large totes with hygiene essentials, comfort items, and other supplies that will help children entering foster care, many of whom arrive with very little of their own.

These donations will help us begin building a closet where foster and kinship families can quickly access necessities when children are placed in their homes.

Thank you to everyone who attended and brought donations. We appreciate your continued prayers for this ministry as well as your help spreading the word about this resource.

If you were unable to attend the event last night but would still like to support the foster closet, feel free to send us a message.

Stay tuned for updates as we organize donations and begin preparing the closet!

Thank you to everyone who attended and supported our launch event tonight for the Fulton County Foster Closet.

We are so grateful for the encouragement, prayers, and donations that were given. When children enter care, they often arrive with very little. Our goal is to help meet some of those immediate needs so foster and kinship families can focus on caring for the child placed with them.

The Fulton County Foster Closet will serve children experiencing foster care, and foster families in Fulton County, PA and the surrounding PA-MD-WV tristate region.

Tonight was just the beginning, and we are excited to see how our community comes together to support children in foster care.

Thank you again to those who attended, donated, and helped make tonight’s event possible. If you’d like to follow along as we move forward, we invite you to follow this page and stay connected.
