Did You Know?

Two somewhat unexpected items on our donation list are…laundry baskets and tote bags!

They’ve actually become incredibly helpful for organizing and delivering items to foster and kinship families, and they also give families an easy way to keep children’s belongings together during transitions and every day life.

Book bags and drawstring bags are perfect for individual welcome bags and smaller sets of items. Laundry baskets and tote bags, on the other hand, are especially helpful for transporting larger amounts of clothing, hygiene items, and household essentials.

If anyone has any new or gently used laundry baskets or sturdy tote bags they would like to donate, we would be so thankful!

For anyone who would like to purchase new items directly, here are a couple easy options:

Tonight we had the opportunity to help support a large foster family in our area 🤎

We were able to provide a few practical essentials including new sneakers and household support items to help ease some of the pressure that can come with caring for a busy foster household.

Every family’s needs look a little different, and we’re thankful to be able to step in and help where we can.

THANK YOU to everyone who continues to support the Fulton County Foster Closet through donations, encouragement, and prayers. Your support is making a real difference for children and families in our community 🤍

Did You Know? 🤍🤎

Many foster and kinship placements happen very quickly, sometimes with only a few hours notice before a child arrives in a new home.

During those first few days, families are often focused on helping the child feel safe, comfortable, and cared for while also trying to gather everyday essentials like clothing, pajamas, hygiene items, diapers, and comfort items.

That’s why the Fulton County Foster Closet exists…to help meet some of those immediate needs so families can focus on caring for the child during a major transition.

We have someone who is looking to donate boys clothing in sizes approximately 14–16 and would love for it to go directly to a foster or kinship family who could use it 🤍

Before accepting the donation, we are trying to see if there is a current need for these sizes.

If you are caring for a placement who may benefit, or know of a foster/kinship family who could use these items, please send us a message.

We currently have a large selection of newborn-12 month boys clothing that we would love to pass along to a foster or kinship family in need.

(photo below is just a very small example of what we have)

While we do not normally accept clothing donations due to storage, we recently received a generous amount of baby clothing and would love to get them into the hands of families caring for little ones.

If you are a foster or kinship caregiver who could benefit from sizes newborn-12 month boys clothing, please send us a message. Feel free to share this post with foster families who could use them!

**please note this is intended specifically for children in foster or kinship care 💛**

💙 May is National Foster Care Awareness Month 💙

Every child deserves to feel safe, loved, and seen. Foster care can be hard, messy, beautiful, heartbreaking, and life-changing all at once. This month, we want to recognize the children, biological families, foster families, kinship caregivers, caseworkers, CASA volunteers, and community members who show up every day for kids in need.

We believe support matters. Sometimes support looks like providing pajamas at midnight, a car seat for a new placement, diapers for a struggling family, or clothing for a child arriving with nothing but a trash bag.

Not everyone is called to foster, but everyone can do something:
💙 donate hygiene supplies, wipes, or small toys/books
💙 help a foster or kinship family by providing a meal, lawn care, childcare, etc
💙 encourage foster and kinship families
💙 pray for children and families walking through hard seasons
💙 learn about the realities of foster care and trauma

Foster care is not about “rescuing” children. It’s about supporting families, protecting children, and helping provide stability during uncertain moments.

Thank you for helping us serve children and families in our community. 💙

We are so grateful to share that the article about the Foster Closet has been published today!

A heartfelt thank you to Jen from the Fulton County News for taking the time and offering to tell this story with care and compassion. We appreciate her support and the way she has helped to bring awareness to the needs of children and families in foster care.

Most importantly, we give thanks to God for opening doors, providing for every step of this journey, and allowing this ministry to grow beyond what we could have imagined.

We are deeply humbled and thankful for our community’s continued support. We are here and ready to serve foster and kinship families. 💛

Did you know that in Pennsylvania there are about 11,250 children in foster care, and about 8,985 licensed foster homes?

Foster care is meant to be temporary, but for many children, the journey can be uncertain and challenging.

That’s why resources like the Fulton County Foster Closet exist…to help meet immediate needs during those first few days of placement.

We’ve had several people ask how they can donate to the Fulton County Foster Closet, and we are grateful for the support! 💛

At this time, donations are accepted by coordinating a drop-off or meeting time with us. If you would like to donate, please send us a message and we will work out a time that is convenient.

We are currently accepting:
• New hygiene items (toothbrushes, shampoo, body wash, etc.)
• Comfort items (small toys, blankets, books)
• Bags (tote bags, duffel bags)
• Gift cards (Visa or Walmart) to help purchase clothing as needs arise

If you would prefer to give a monetary donation, checks can be made out to Rehoboth New Life with “Foster Closet” in the memo.

Thank you again for supporting children entering foster and kinship care in our community 💛
