A visitor staying at the accessible cabin shared his awesome pictures with us! Sounds like he had a great time staying with us. He enjoyed the tandem accessible kayak provided by Friends of Buckhorn. If you want to rent these call the office or stop by to check out the 2 person kayak as well as the beach chair and track chair.

Spring Fling had a lot going on this year. The weather was perfect for all of the games, good food, hayrides and live music from Old Soul Society. We had a red ribbon cutting for our new community firepit. Friends of Buckhorn celebrated 30 years of doing our part to make Buckhorn more enjoyable for all that visit. Seth from Friends of Wisconsin State Parks ( which is the umbrella group for all 65 friends groups throughout the state) came to present Friends of Buckhorn with the Hero award.
Thank you to Juneau county sheriff's office, Juneau County health department and the wardens office for coming out and sharing some education with us. Thank you to Wisconsin River Meats for the donation of some brats.
This was just the kickoff for the season. Hope to see everyone at events throughout the summer.

Free Fishing Weekend is June 6-7!

Wisconsin residents and out-of-state visitors can fish state waters without buying a fishing license, trout stamp or salmon stamp. However, please know all other fishing regulations, including bag limits, size limits and species restrictions, remain in effect.

There will be fishing clinics providing simple, hands-on instruction such as casting, knot tying, fish identification and basic fishing techniques for those new to this sport. Wisconsin DNR Tackle Loaner Sites located statewide has rods, reels and tackle for participants needing equipment.

Wildflower Wednesday!

There is color appearing in the park! Look for purple lupine, red columbine and yellow hoary puccoon. All are great plants for bees, birds, butterflies and other pollinators. Lupine is the only host plant for the endangered Karner blue butterfly. Columbine is a host plant for the columbine duskywing moth and also provides early food for hummingbirds.
