It’s a common scenario. You’ve just brought home your new puppy. Eight weeks old, all roly-poly fluff and cute as a button. You’ve heard that puppies need to be “socialized,” and you definitely pl…

Sharing this for friends. Willow lives in Florida and if you live in the area and could give Willow a great forever home contact Shy Wolf direct at the email address provided below to request an adoption application.

Willow is still looking for her forever home. This was a recent day trip with one of our volunteers. If you want to be her family email [email protected] for an application. Ideal home would be in Florida, owned not leased, have one other dog she can meet prior to moving in, and secure 6' fencing, lots of patience. Older kids okay, no toddlers. Cats probably not a good idea and she's rough with small dogs (playing) so probably at least a medium sized friend. Willow could possibly be an only dog as she does seem to be more drawn to people than her sister Sierra. Both are looking. Same type home. Both are very special girls with lots of love to give.

With a heavy heart we want to let you know that we lost our beautiful girl Willow to Angiosarcoma yesterday evening. A fast spreading cancer from which she could not recover. We are so very grateful to her Vet. Dr. Pam for meeting us at the clinic after hours and helping Willow leave us in a gentle and peaceful crossing wrapped in my arms. Willow was a very special girl who loved life, hugs from her Mom, snow, fresh mowed grass, chasing chipmunks around the brush pile and swimming in her pool. She will leave an empty void that can never be filled. Rest in Peace Little One until we meet again.

Tundra was used as a breeding female until she was rescued and taken in by our foster parents. She eventually moved to WOLF to live "the life". Lovely, sweet, beautiful girl ❤️

WOLF Fun Fact Friday (Courtesy of ListVerse) (Pic of sweet Tundra-W.O.L.F. Sanctuary): Black wolves don’t occur naturally.A 2008 study at Stanford University found that the mutation responsible for black fur occurs only in dogs, so black wolves are the result of gray wolves breeding back with domestic canines. The mutation is a dominant trait, like dark hair in humans, and is passed down to the majority of offspring. It is not entirely clear what benefit black fur has for the animals; they do not seem to be more successful hunters, but do show a marked improvement in immunity to certain infections. Black wolves are far more common in North America than they are in the rest of the world.

Hi Everyone, we are just checking in. Everyone is doing pretty good. We just had our annual Vet Check-up and updated vaccinations. That's always a stressful day for Mom & the fur pups. But they were all very brave and didn't complain too much. Elko has lost most if not all of his eyesight from the diabetes. We've made some changes since he can no longer navigate to the downstairs doggie-door. He now has a brand new ramp going into a small fenced yard in front. He's a good boy to tolerate his twice daily insulin and little pokes to test his blood sugar. But it is taking a toll on his body and we take every day as it comes. Willow is starting to show her age. She is losing some weight and we have some concerns with that. But she is almost 13 years old so we'll just keep an eye on her. As usual we have masses of mosquitos with a cool wet spring. So most days the pups hang out in their kennels. Hard to believe we are heading toward the end of June already. Have a happy summer all.
