Many parents panic when their child plays another sport.

I think the opposite.

For most youth wrestlers, playing multiple sports is an advantage.

Football teaches toughness.

Soccer teaches movement.

Gymnastics teaches body awareness.

Baseball teaches patience.

Children are athletes first and wrestlers second.

Yet many families treat youth wrestling like a professional career.

Year-round competition.

Year-round pressure.

Year-round expectations.

The result is often burnout before high school.

The goal should not be creating the best ten-year-old wrestler.

The goal should be creating the best eighteen-year-old wrestler.

Those are very different paths.
