Week 104
This world of Information inundation is creating in all of us a sense of helplessness and overwhelm. We simply cannot keep up with the pace we are setting for ourselves. Instead, we create fictitious phrases like “bandwidth” and “multi-tasking” to excuse or support our ability relative to our goals. In reality Overwhelm is creating randomness and chaos. Those who are most susceptible to it are finding that they are more under productive or, worse still unproductive.

Week 103 Perfect Prison
We have all created for ourselves the world’s only inescapable prison. No one has ever broken free of the bonds of Perfection. Yet we continuously try. Maybe just getting up to bat is the best thing we can do even when we strike out, draw a walk or get hit by a pitch. The very notion of perfection is, by definition unattainable. So, let mediocrity suffice to push you into the game.

Week 102 Another Day
You will have setbacks today like you have had every single day of your life to this point. You will also survive. You have a 100% success rate at surviving set-backs so far.

11/27/2018

Week 101 Our Boat
I have an interest in helping you to succeed. I may push you to row harder but I will be in the back bailing along with your efforts so we don’t sink. We will sink or swim, thrive and survive together

Week 100 Accountability
Holding one accountable is not about deprivation or extreme discipline. It is an opportunity to push or be pushed. To cheer and celebrate. To understand, recognize, relate and pivot. It is a chance to give honor, show respect and appreciation and to share value and values

Week 99
I never trust autopilot on my boat. There are obstacles that a machine cannot see or foresee. The ocean is full of hazards and can be a dangerous place. The natural course of winds and currents, tides and structure causes us to constantly shift and pivot in order to maintain course.

Week 98
You must focus on the compelling reasons that drive you to act each day. This passion is what set you apart and allows you to bring your unique talents to any challenge. Likewise, it is important to understand the compelling needs of those you serve in order to address them in a meaningful way. A Compelling need to most of us is also known as a burning desire or a “want.” In many circumstances it is not a true “need.” Your role is to address what people believe that they want and to deliver them what they truly need.

Week 97
The bottom is a crowded place. So don’t hang around there. We already decided you are a BIG fish and at feeding time it is best to be at the surface. Embrace your desire to be at the top. Own it. You are worthy and you do belong in the open air where there is plenty of room

Week 96
Imagine
The estate of the late John Lennon has become a cottage industry based around one simple phrase and a beautiful song. Imagine – Dream Big – Know your goals are out there waiting for you to reach them even if you cannot see them or have proof. As a toddler my daughter wanted the toys in her bedroom. She could not see the top of the stairs but she knew that if she took the first step she was on her way.

Week 95 – Leaders In-Tents
On the battle field it is wise that all great leaders hold meetings in their tents far behind the front lines to make it known to all subordinates exactly what the “Intent” of the mission is. Much can go afoul in the chaos of battle. But, nothing is more important than the overall intent of the mission. In this manner every soldier, facing any contingency, can pivot, regroup and re-focus on the intent specified by the leader in the tent.

Week 94 – Be True
David Bowie is one of my rock and roll heroes. It is not for his music, ironically enough. It was all about image with Bowie. He has said that, the only thing that truly mattered to him were his family and his art. And that is brilliant Bowie. One of the most profound and modest things I’ve ever heard from him was “I’m a closet heterosexual” – quite controversial for the era. He was clearly an icon and clearly an inspiration who was not concerned about the public perception of him was, as much as it was of value to himself. And look at the success that he created!!!Be true to yourself and everything else will follow.

Week 93 Checking Out
The first thing in the morning we need to do is to be thankful and grateful for who we are and what we have. When we reach for our smart phone and check our email or texts we are checking in with everyone else, on their agenda and their schedule. Take some time every day to Check out with the world and check in with YOU.
