✨ Ending the series off is Prabal Gurung a designer who uses fashion to speak on identity, equality, and social issues.

📍Born in Singapore and now based in New York, Prabal Gurung is a Nepalese American designer. His global background shapes the stories he tells through his work.

🧥 Gurung blends fashion with strong political messages. His designs often focus on immigration, feminism, and racial inclusion, while also celebrating different identities, body types, and cultures. He is known for his runway slogan shirts with messages like “The Future Is Female,” “This Is What a Feminist Looks Like,” and “I Am an Immigrant.”

✨ Up next in our art series is Ani Liu, an artist who blends art and science to explore women’s rights, identity, and control over the body.

📍 Ani Liu is a Chinese-American artist whose work brings together installation, sculpture, biotech art, and textiles. She uses both traditional and scientific materials to tell complex and powerful stories.

🧬 Her projects often focus on reproductive justice and science ethics. In her Unborn Project, she looks at reproductive technology and questions who has control over women’s bodies. She also creates detailed embroidery pieces using human hair, connecting the body directly to her art. She uses art to help reclaim control over bodies and personal stories, while speaking out against systems that exclude and harm.

✨ Our next featured artist in our AAPI month series is Amanda Phingbodhipakkiya, an artist who uses public spaces to uplift AAPI identity and respond to injustice.

📍 Born in Atlanta, Georgia and now based in New York City, Amanda is a Thai-Indonesian American artist and former designer. She chose to move away from traditional gallery spaces and create public art so her work is accessible to everyday people.

🎨 Known for her use of bold typography and bright colors, Amanda creates artwork that is both eye-catching and meaningful. During quarantine, she launched the “I Still Believe in Our City” campaign across New York City, responding to the rise in anti-Asian hate and promoting belonging and resilience. Her project “Beyond Curie” highlights women in STEM, bringing visibility to voices that are often overlooked. Her art turns public spaces into messages of strength, visibility, and empowerment.

🫟🎨The ARTS patio is more than just an outdoor area. It’s a key part of the ARTS Center and a gathering place for creativity and connection. This spring we teamed up with volunteers from U.S. Bank to refresh this well-loved space. Led by our Volunteer and Intern Coordinator, Stephanie Rivas, the US Bank team rolled up their sleeves to paint, plant, and brighten the patio, making it even more welcoming for our community.🏘

💪Their dedication is a perfect example of how group volunteering brings people together to support spaces and programs that matter. Thank you, US Bank, for investing your time, energy, and heart in our community! ☺️

We are holding the and the Muslim community in our hearts following the tragic violence that occurred yesterday. We reject hate in all its forms, stand in solidarity with everyone impacted, and reaffirm our commitment to building a community rooted in safety, dignity, and care for all.

If you are able, consider supporting the victim and family support efforts and continuing to show up for one another with care, compassion, and respect.
