The Hallway Ambush
We’ve all been there. You’re at the studio, you have a concern bubbling up, and you see the teacher walking toward the breakroom. It feels like the perfect time for a 'quick' question, right? 🛑 Wait.

In the ballet world, the 'Hallway Ambush' is one of the quickest ways to unintentionally get your sef placed on a "no fly zone". 📉

Allow MoBBallet help you begin to develop healthy relationships - and communication with your dancer's teachers!!!

This WARMS MY HEART!!!!
was one of my favorite teachers when I was a student at Pennsylvania ()!! I was also a student at the Performing Arts School (PAS) with the likes of and
the founder of . Actually her mother and my father would sit in the hallways of PBC when it was on Fairmount Avenue and watch class, sew pointe shoes and gossip!! on the first floor the rosin box was in the hall between the two studios, so you would have to step into the hallway... and my father would give me corrections when I stepped out "get your kne back on your frappés the front!" "use your battment for your tour jeté" ooooh I would be so annoyed (but he wasn't wrong". He knew when I I wasn't cutting it - because he understood the form.

HE WAS THE RICHARD WILLIAMS OF BALLET!! He taught himself for ME!!

Learning ballet terminology and technique isn't just about sounding smart; it's about gaining an advocacy toolkit. 🧰

When you understand the definitions and the biomechanics behind what your child is learning, you can:
📈 Deeply understand their progress reports and curriculum.
🗣️ Prevent administrators from using jargon to dismiss your legitimate concerns (we call that 'Ballet Gaslighting').

Genuinely connect with your dancer by celebrating their growth with shared understanding.

Don't advocate from insecurity—advocate from power.

Our 'Demystifying the Ballet Pipeline' Parent Masterclass gives you the foundation. Purchase on mobballet.org
