JUNE 19 / FRIDAY
🟡 from 8:30 am – 5:00pm – THE AFRICAN-AMERICAN EXPERIENCE AT MELROSE
Organized by the Natchez National Historical Park. Park staff will offer a variety of children’s activities and provide tours of the Melrose mansion that focus on the African American experience throughout the day on June 19.
The house tours will highlight what is known about the enslaved men, women, and children who lived and labored at the estate as well as the system of slavery in this region that made such extravagant homes possible. Visitors will also be able to experience the exhibit in the Melrose slave quarters, “Through the Labor of Others: the McMurrans as Enslavers,” which will provide additional information on the McMurran family and those people they held in bo***ge. It will include the currently known names of nearly 400 people enslaved by the McMurrans.

Presented by Freedom Season. A ceremony honoring the individuals and descendants of the enslaved that were sold here at the second largest of its kind in the South. The site is now part of the Natchez National Historic Park. This event is FREE and open to the public.

🔴 at 9:00 am – JUNETEENTH: CELEBRATING THE PAST & FUTURE FAMILY DAY
Presented by the Natchez Adams County NAACP Branch and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Mississippi (BGCCM), this Free event features Kids Activities, Food Booths, Live Entertainment and more Kids Activities, Food Booth, Live Entertainment and much more! It all kicks off with a motorcade / procession to the Frazier Center starting at 9:00am, followed by field activities at 10:00am.

A ceremony honoring and remembering the enslaved that once worked and lived at this historic home now operated by the National Park Service as a museum. Please park in the main lot and walk to the lower portion of the front lawn. Lawn chairs and flashlights are welcome. This event is FREE and open to the public.

🔴 at 8:00 pm – MISSLOU JUNETEENTH PARADE OF LEGENDS: NIGHT EDITON
Presented by Freedom Season and Miss Lou Juneteenth. Represent greatness in Black culture at this nighttime parade. Participants will be dressed up representing the trailblazers, icons and change makers who shaped Black history and community. Families can sign up and set up tents in Ferriday Downtown with free permit.
