The ribbon cutting for the Pumpkin Patch and the Howl-o-Ween Parade was a very enjoyable event for 19 HPR dogs today. We would like to thank the Downtown Natchez Alliance and The City of Natchez, MS and Dan Gibson Mayor of Natchez for all they do to make Natchez a pet friendly city. Our dogs greatly enjoyed the outing and it was icing on the cake when 3 of them won judged categories.
Outings like today's help our adult dogs to gain confidence in vehicles and in crowds, and getting to meet new people and spend extra time with all the staff and volunteers today was a special treat for our dogs. For anyone who saw them in the parade today, we hope that it helped to spark interest in adoption of local adult dogs. Every adoption of an adult dog saves two lives - the dog that was adopted and the dog that enters the kennel that was opened up by that adoption.
Special thanks go to the HPR crew who came in at 6 am today to make sure all of our sheltered animals were cared for before taking the 19 dogs to the parade, and to the crew members and volunteers who came in on their days off to make it happen. Thanks also go to the members of the Alcorn State University Tennis Team who volunteered to walk HPR dogs during the parade. You all made each of the 19 dogs feel very special today!
Names of adoptable pets are listed with their photos below. Please contact HPR if you are interested in meeting any of our adoptable adult dogs. Many of our large adult adoptable dogs are fee-waived for qualified adopters. 601-303-0672
