As one of America’s vet­er­ans ser­vice orga­ni­za­tions, AMVETS (Amer­i­can Vet­er­ans) has a proud his­tory of assist­ing vet­er­ans and their families. We started meeting just two years ago at the Chandler Young VFW Post 8162 building just one mile east of the village of Nassau at the corner of U.S. Route 20 and Lyons Lake Road. Our first organizing meeting was July 10, 2012. We now have more t

han 50 members and are growing steadily. We are organizing events that include both the VFW and American Legion members of Nassau. With a united veterans effort, we expect to continue the support of our veterans and their families. The banner picture shows our ceremony this last Flag Day. You can see members of all three organizations making this a very moving ceremony for the Nassau community. Mission

To enhance and safe­guard the enti­tle­ments for all Amer­i­can Vet­er­ans who have served hon­or­ably and to improve the qual­ity of life for them, their fam­i­lies, and the com­mu­ni­ties where they live through lead­er­ship, advo­cacy and services. We received our official AMVETS charter dated November 11, 2012
