We just had another great week along the Amazon River with Passion Community Church.

Watching this team serve with such humility and joy was a beautiful reminder of what these trips are all about. We know the communities they visited were deeply blessed by their presence.

In the past few years, JMI has developed a trip devotional that participants use while traveling with us to Moldova, the Amazon, or Italy.

This year’s theme is “They Will Know Us By Our Love,” a 6-day deep dive designed to transform how we see the world. Over the course of a trip, our teams interact with God’s Word, physically marking every mention of “love” to visualize God’s heartbeat for the stranger, the orphan, and the outcast.

At JMI, we believe missions should be a discipleship journey that challenges us to love sacrificially, ensuring that we don’t just “do” service, but return home looking more like Christ.

Two of our three 2026 Jungle Pastors’ Conferences are now complete!

We believe God led each and every leader there for a reason, and the fruit was undeniable.

Incredible community was formed throughout the week, marked by deep intercession for one another and for the Gospel-centered ministry happening in each village.

We are excited for the impact these pastors will have as they return home equipped and covered in prayer.

Tara Owen is the Chief Financial Officer for JMI. She is a CPA and holds a Master’s and a BBA in Accounting from Baylor University. Tara joined the JMI team in 2018, and previously performed audits with KPMG, served as an Analyst for LifeWay, and managed Accounting and Operations for companies in the real estate, healthcare, and nonprofit sectors.

Tara's heart for working in ministry began in college, and she is passionate about serving in her role at JMI, where the focus is on sharing the Gospel globally and helping those in need.

Tara and her two sons, Caleb and Luke, have been greatly impacted through going on missions and sponsoring through JMI. She and her boys love being a part of the ministry God is doing through JMI.
