What can technology and religion tell us about the future of America?

Join us Monday, October 12, at 6 p.m. at the Downtown Public Library for dinner and conversation with author Bradley Onishi and NewsChannel 5 Chief Investigative Reporter Phil Williams as they discuss Bradley’s newest book, American Caesar, and its connections to Phil’s reporting in Tennessee.

Stick around for a book signing! Copies will be available for purchase.

Parking: Discounted parking is available for $4.99 for up to 2 hours at the McKendree Garage (140 6th Ave. N.) and 144 Rep. John Lewis Way N. Scan the garage QR code when parking and the library QR code on the first floor to receive the discount. Standard rates apply to visits exceeding 2 hours.

On October 12, join us at the Nashville Public Library for “Tech & Religion in America Today,” a conversation with author and scholar Bradley Onishi and NewsChannel 5 Chief Investigative Reporter Phil Williams.

The two will discuss Onishi’s newest book, American Caesar: How Theocrats and Tech Lords Are Turning America Into a Monarchy, and explore the forces shaping our democracy and our shared future.

This summer, we had the honor of participating in Be The People Fest!

A festival dedicated to showcasing local problem-solvers, Be The People shines a spotlight on the leaders, helpers, and changemakers working to strengthen our communities and inspire others to get involved.

At the festival, we shared our Pledge to Listen with thousands of Nashvillians and asked, “What does community mean to you?” Take a swipe to see what some of our neighbors had to say!

We’re incredibly grateful to Be The People for extending the invitation and creating space for conversations that remind us what is possible when we come together. Your work is necessary in a world where division can feel overwhelming.

As we continue exploring how to strengthen human connection in an increasingly digital world, we’ll come together to discuss how our communities can confront hate, foster understanding, and respond to hate-related incidents, including the recent tragic killings at the Islamic Center of San Diego.

Presented in partnership with Nashville’s Metro Human Relations Commission, the American Muslim Advisory Council, Humanities Tennessee, and the Nashville Public Library.

Tennessee has been making a lot of headlines and this headline here is about joy, hope, and building a better future that works for us all! We know the best way to democracy is to rebuild our washed up roads and that starts with us- the people.
