In a recent interview, state Representative and candidate for Governor Monty Fritts said he would criminalize abortion in all cases—including pregnancies resulting from r**e—and that he opposes allowing r**e victims to access emergency contraception.

He went on to say "as I understand it, that chemical, that medication can also become an abortifacient." This is false—emergency contraception is proven to prevent pregnancy and does not cause abortions.

We deserve leaders who don't spread harmful misinformation about reproductive health care, and who will protect our right to get the care we need, not continue to strip it away.

Our fight for reproductive freedom didn't end when the legislative chamber doors closed. In fact, we're just getting started.

We recently released our list of endorsed state and local candidates for the 2026 elections—champions who are ready to fight for reproductive freedom, affordable and equitable health care, and bodily autonomy. But these candidates need more than endorsements to win. To put Tennessee back on the right path, we need to put boots on the ground and get voters to the polls. The only way to protect and win back our rights in Tennessee is by voting champions into office who will stand up for bodily autonomy.

That’s why we need your help to reach our goal: we need to raise $5,000 in the next two weeks to fully fund our summer voter outreach work.

These candidates—including the incumbents—sought our endorsement by filling out our required Candidate Questionnaire, which asked them to deeply consider how they would protect reproductive freedom, sexual and reproductive health care, and bodily autonomy as a representative of their district, their community, and their state. Each of these candidates are true reproductive rights champions, and we are proud to support them all.⁠
