📢 SEIU Local 205 Budget Update
Following the release of the proposed budget, our priorities remain unchanged.
We are continuing to call for Nashville General Hospital to be made fully financially whole, including a 2% retro to July of 2025 and 5% cost of living adjustment (NGH employees do not get step raises like the rest of Metro. Therefore, this amount includes a COLA and what a step would be) for this year, which requires an investment of approximately $7.8 million in addition to the mayor’s proposed budget. Our General Hospital members deserve stability, respect, and the resources needed to provide quality care—and we stand firmly with them in that fight.
While we are encouraged to see that step increases will continue this year, we are disappointed by the proposed 1.7% cost-of-living adjustment, which falls short of what workers need to keep up with rising costs. We are committed to continuing conversations on how to fix the broken process used to determine these adjustments moving forward.
Additionally, we are advocating for:
• A cost-of-living adjustment for MNPS workers that, at a minimum, matches Metro employees
• A bonus that bridges that gap created due to fall break and spring break
This is a solidarity budget. SEIU Local 205 members across all departments are standing together in support of our Nashville General Hospital workers and each other.
We will continue fighting for higher wages, fair adjustments, and safe, respectful working conditions for the employees who keep Nashville running.
