This week marks one year since the fall of Afghanistan. It is estimated that 97% of Afghanistan’s population are living below the poverty line, making daily essentials a rare commodity. Recent bans on women’s ability to work and travel without a male guardian have made it almost impossible for those who seek asylum to reach it.

“Do not forget about Afghanistan’s women,” a woman claimed as she was being interviewed by ABC news. Over the past year of Taliban rule, newly published billboards in the cities have reintroduced women’s dress codes and prohibited girls from attending secondary school, making Afghanistan the only country in the world with a gender based education ban. UNICEF has predicted that 3.7 million Afghan children are out of school, and 60% are female.

All donations made to Relief Without Borders between August 16th and 19th will be allocated to the Aid Afghanistan Fund, which will provide immediate relief to families deeply affected by this humanitarian crisis. Click the link in our bio or visit reliefwoborders.org to donate today.🤍

In an effort to support Afghan refugees and bring the Nashville community together, Relief Without Borders and Tennessee Resettlement Aid assisted the Hispanic Family Foundation to host the 'Afghan Refugee Summer Giveback Bash' on June 16th at Plaza Mariachi.

With over 300 Afghan Refugees attending, this event sparked new friendships and connections between people of all backgrounds, and provided a sense of belonging to our new neighbors while being surrounded by the comfort and familiarity of their culture. Including traditional Afghan live music, entertainment, a warm halal meal, and classes on transitioning to life in America, we addressed several of the challenges that come with resettlement. There were fun activities for children including a bouncy house, crafts, and games. For the adults, health advice and check ups and a safe place to come together and learn.

We are thankful to Hispanic Family Foundation and Tennessee Resettlement Aid for co-hosting, and thank you to all the other amazing Nashville organizations who came together to make this event happen.

Within the last year, over 600 Afghan refugees have relocated to Nashville, TN. Relief Without Borders has partnered alongside many other Nashville organizations to take part in welcoming these refugees to our city - many of whom are arriving with little more than the clothing on their backs. Most are in need of housing, employment, council, and other human essentials.

Relief Without Borders has donated hygiene products, school supplies, children’s toys, clothes, meals and much more. We recognize the challenges refugees face in adjusting to a brand new culture, so with the assistance of our local partners, we are helping refugees to understand their rights and resources in their new city.

Join us as we welcome our new neighbors and please visit our website to learn more about our efforts. Link in bio. 💚

The most pressing humanitarian crisis in Kenya is food insecurity and child malnourishment from the ongoing drought disaster. Relief Without Borders is excited to sponsor educational & nutritional supplies through our Kenyan partner, (CITR).

Child in the Rough is working within the the Star of Wonder School, which is a volunteer based safe haven and source of hope for children in some of the most brutal and poverty-stricken areas of the world, two of which are the Ngando and Kibera Slums. Many of the children are orphans and exposed to extremely harsh conditions, facing starvation and exposure to disease at a young age. The Star of Wonder School not only grants access to affordable education, but takes these children off the street, providing meals and care for healthier and happier futures.

Relief Without Borders aided in the provision of meals, textbooks, uniforms, and curriculum for 300 children at the Star of Wonder School located in Nairobi, Kenya.💚
