This week marks one year since the fall of Afghanistan. It is estimated that 97% of Afghanistan’s population are living below the poverty line, making daily essentials a rare commodity. Recent bans on women’s ability to work and travel without a male guardian have made it almost impossible for those who seek asylum to reach it.
“Do not forget about Afghanistan’s women,” a woman claimed as she was being interviewed by ABC news. Over the past year of Taliban rule, newly published billboards in the cities have reintroduced women’s dress codes and prohibited girls from attending secondary school, making Afghanistan the only country in the world with a gender based education ban. UNICEF has predicted that 3.7 million Afghan children are out of school, and 60% are female.
All donations made to Relief Without Borders between August 16th and 19th will be allocated to the Aid Afghanistan Fund, which will provide immediate relief to families deeply affected by this humanitarian crisis. Click the link in our bio or visit reliefwoborders.org to donate today.🤍
