Originally from Los Angeles, Carla Christina Contreras arrived in Nashville in 1991 with a three-song demo and big dreams—and quickly found both a home and a calling. What began as a temporary stay evolved into a lifelong commitment to serving and strengthening Nashville’s film, television, and music communities.

Now the Nashville Local President of SAG-AFTRA, Carla has spent more than 30 years advocating for performers and creators. She is also a notable member of the SAG-AFTRA National Negotiating Committee, helping shape industry contracts on a national level. Her leadership, dedication, and impact continue to play a vital role in the growth of Nashville’s creative industry.

Committed to uplifting others, she founded Women Make Music, a nonprofit supporting women in the music industry, and established a mentorship program for women of all ages pursuing careers in film.
