Every child deserves to feel celebrated on their birthday.

We’re proud to partner with For Goodness Cakes Nashville , a nonprofit that matches volunteers to bake and hand-deliver custom cakes to children in foster care and youth overcoming adversity — because a birthday cake is proof that someone sees you, knows your name, and wanted to make your day special.

Our first delivery just arrived, and it is beautiful. 🎂

If you bake, volunteer, or just want to help spread a little joy, learn more about For Goodness Cakes and how you can get involved.

As part of our Child Abuse Prevention Month series, we’re sharing signs that may indicate a child is in distress.

Children who seem anxious or afraid of going home may be signaling that home isn’t safe. Don’t ignore signs of fear. You don’t have to be certain, and you don’t have to give your name. In Tennessee, reports of suspected child abuse can always be made anonymously.

📞 In Tennessee, reporting suspected abuse is required. 877-237-0004 or https://carat.app.tn.gov/carat/

This month, F&CS is highlighting warning signs of child abuse to help our community protect children.

Watch for sudden shifts in a child’s behavior—withdrawal, aggression, fearfulness, or mood swings. Children may communicate trauma through actions before words. In Tennessee, reports of suspected child abuse can be made anonymously, and you are not expected to investigate — just to speak up when you have concerns.

Throughout April, we’re sharing common warning signs of child abuse as part of Child Abuse Prevention Month. Family & Children’s Service partners with the Tennessee Department of Children's Services (DCS) to prevent child abuse.

One of the most visible signs is unexplained injuries — frequent bruises, burns, or broken bones without a clear explanation. If something doesn’t feel right, trust your instincts. Even if you are unsure, you can — and should — report suspected child abuse. In Tennessee, reports can be made anonymously.

📞 In Tennessee, everyone is a mandated reporter. Call 877-237-0004 or report at https://carat.app.tn.gov/carat/
