Meet the 2026 Gamechangers!
In celebration of Black Philanthropy Month, Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee is proud to introduce the 2026 class of Gamechangers, eight Black leaders whose generosity, vision, and commitment to community are helping shape a stronger Middle Tennessee.

Through giving, service, advocacy, mentorship, and community-building, this year’s honorees are creating opportunity, strengthening organizations, opening doors for others, and inspiring people to invest in the communities they call home.

Launched by CFMT in 2024, Gamechangers celebrates Black leaders whose influence reaches beyond their individual work. Each brings a distinct voice, experience, and approach to creating change, reflecting the spirit of this year’s Black Philanthropy Month theme: Many Voices, One Movement.

Congratulations to Charlie Worsham on being invited to join the Grand Ole Opry family. It's a full-circle moment for an artist whose relationship with the Opry stage goes back decades, one that reflects years of artistry, heart, and dedication to the Nashville music community he loves.

That same dedication is what's at the heart of our 2025 Annual Report. In 2016, Charlie launched his Follow Your Heart Scholarship Fund with CFMT to help students from his Mississippi hometown pursue the arts. Nearly a decade later, Charlie, his wife Kristen, and MCF Executive Director Rondal Richardson share the story of how that vision grew into The Compadres Fund, established in 2023, and their shared commitment to growing a culture of giving in Nashville's music community.

As Charlie puts it: "In those early days, my goal was not to wait for my career to take off before laying the cornerstone for my philanthropy." He was, in his words, "hyper-focused on building something that would pay forward the investment my music teachers had made in me."

August is celebrated internationally as Black Philanthropy Month.

This year's theme, Many Voices, One Movement, lifts up the many ways Black generosity strengthens communities through giving, leadership, service, and collective action.

Since 2019, Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee has recognized Black Philanthropy Month by celebrating Black leadership, connecting donors with Black-led organizations, and creating opportunities for meaningful conversations about the future of philanthropy in our region.

Throughout August and beyond, we'll bring our community together to recognize leaders, share stories, and explore how each of us can help build a stronger, more connected future for Black philanthropy.

Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee is proud to serve as an early voting site ahead of the August 6 Davidson County State and Federal Primary Election! Stop by our office at 3421 Belmont Blvd. to cast your ballot now through Saturday, August 1. Please note that CFMT is not a polling location on Election Day, August 6. You can find early voting hours and more information at https://www.nashville.gov/departments/elections.

Looking ahead, CFMT will again serve as an early voting site from October 14–29 ahead of the November 3 general election.

For decades, Nashville's music community has shown up when people and communities needed it most. Artists, songwriters, industry leaders, and fans have transformed generosity into lasting impact.

This past Monday, Music Community Foundation executive director Rondal Richardson shared that story with the Rotary Club of Nashville through a conversation about how one of America's most influential music communities built a tradition of giving that continues to shape lives across the country.

Today we're celebrating community, neighbors, and the freedoms that make Middle Tennessee feel like home. Every year, downtown Nashville goes all out for the holiday, and this year's Let Freedom Sing! Music City July 4th is no exception. Two days across five stages with nonstop live performances, plus the largest fireworks and drone show in Nashville's history to mark America250. From fireworks to backyard cookouts, music, and time with family, this holiday reminds us of the connections we build with one another.

Wishing everyone in Middle Tennessee a safe and meaningful Independence Day.

This weekend, Broadway will be filled with love, color, and celebration as Nashville Pride kicks off downtown. From the parade to the festival, Pride is a reminder of the joy and belonging that make Middle Tennessee home. At CFMT, we celebrate the diversity and community which make this region one of the best places to live.

Yesterday, our team helped pack backpacks with school supplies through one of our grantee partners, PENCIL. The supplies go directly into the DG PENCIL Box, PENCIL's free supply store for MNPS teachers, stocked through donations from the Nashville community and national brands. It's one way to make sure none of MNPS' 86,000 students start the school year without what they need. Thank you, PENCIL for having us and all the amazing work that you do!
