One of our Nash County female farmers being recognized during the 2026 International Year of the Woman Farmer.

Meet Sharon Tyson of Nash County!

She and her husband farm about 5000 acres across three counties. They both work full-time on the farm, raising to***co, sweet potatoes, soybeans, cotton, corn, and organic sunflowers.

In addition to her work on the farm, Sharon is an active leader in her community— serving on her county Farm Bureau Board of Directors, serving as chair on her county Farm Bureau Women’s Leadership Committee, 4H Volunteer, Nash County Farm City Advisory Board, and as a previous member of the Nash County FSA Advisory Board.

What inspires or motivates you in your community or professional life?
I love agriculture and enjoy educating people about it. My love of our lifestyle motivates me to educate where/when I can. I also am motivated by my love for family and my love for Christ. Psalm 27:1 The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid.

We are proud to highlight Sharon as part of the International Year of the Woman Farmer and celebrate her dedication to agriculture and leadership across North Carolina!
