Girl Geek Dinners was born in London by Sara Lamb. It was created to inspire and encourage women in the information technology industry. The first Girl Geek Dinner was in London in August of 2005 at the Texas Embassy sponsored by Google. Girl Geek Dinners have grown into an international movement. US cites like, Philadelphia, Seattle, San Francisco (Bay Area), Los Angeles & New York City have all

successfully opened chapters and are attracting notable sponsors like, Google, Facebook, Microsoft, Yahoo, EA, Yelp, Intel, Box.net, Yammer, ModCloth, SugarSync & Hackbright Academy that have taken an active role in promoting the Girl Geek Dinner goals of Meet, Inspire & Encourage women in technology. The Nashville Chapter of Girl Geek Dinner was founded in 2013 by Rachel Werner & Kristin McKinney with the goal to encourage and inspire Nashville’s young women and girls to pursue technology careers.
