We’re sharing an important update regarding the TDHS Safety Supplemental Grant.

Effective immediately, any licensed child care agency with the Tennessee Department of Human Services that has not yet applied for the Safety Supplemental Grant during the current cycle (October 1, 2024 – September 30, 2025) is now eligible to apply—even if your program has not received an approved Support and Enhancement Grant for this cycle.

This is a change from previous requirements and opens the opportunity to more providers across Tennessee.

As a reminder, the Safety Supplemental Grant offers up to $4,000 to help enhance safety and security in licensed child care programs.

Now, the only requirement to apply is that your agency has completed all final reporting from any previous grant cycles.

Thank you for your continued commitment to safe and high-quality child care in Tennessee.

According to the Center for American Progress, nearly 97% of the early childhood education workforce is women. And in the South, a quarter of child care professionals are Black women.

Child care professionals are an integral part of their communities. This International Women's Day, we want to honor and recognize the women who make our lives possible.

Because of child care professionals, families can go to work, children can learn and grow in a safe environment, and our communities thrive.
